For Mercer’s SS ’18 collection, the design team were inspired by the fascinating world of Baroque combined with contemporary elements. The art, architecture, glamour, combination of prints, colors and textures – all of these elements are implemented in the new collection. While designing this collection they looked at all of these 17th century elements, and mixed them with modern day trends. The Baroque style is originated in Italy, the country where the brand buys all of its materials for their shoes. On the other hand, the word ‘Baroque’ comes from the Portuguese word ‘Barroco’. What a coincidence, since the shoes are actually manufactured in Portugal.
The term Barroco was originally meant as a term by which medieval philosophers described elements and designs deemed as non-obvious. This is exactly the feeling Mercer tried to design their collection around, creating new and non-obvious footwear pieces that make you stand out of the crowd.
The collection is available online and in selected retailers. But first, peek the nice silhouettes.
