‘Send Nudes’ might be one of the most used phrases of our digital generation. A phrase so powerful and covered with primal human urges. It represents much more than a request, it’s a mutual agreement that’s supposed to be intimate and private. So don’t be a douchebag and spread pictures around.
#SENDNUDES is the latest book by Dutch publishing house Mendo, who partnered up with creative director Iman Whitfield to create a publication that entails erotic photography from a female point of view.
This publication is meant to set our minds at ease, as sexualized imagery is running wild through the fashion and music industry. Iman Whitfield aims to reclaim women’s sovereignty over their own bodies with this series. But at the bottom line, this publication is amazing because sex sells – period. It would have been a stronger message if Whitfield would’ve incorporated women from all body types and not just the #INSTAFAMOUS body type. In that perspective the publication is selective in terms of using just one body type, it kinda discriminates by not using the sexuality of the larger woman for example.
But in conclusion, this is an amazing book to have on your coffee table. A publication that embodies the beauty standards that we have in this digital age.
The book is available for pre orders at MENDO for €50,-
