Vault by Vans designs a collection in collaboration with four iconic artists in honor of the 90th birthday of Mickey Mouse. These artists are John Van Hamersveld, Mr. Cartoon, Geoff McFetridge and Taka Hayashi. Together they designed a collection with their own interpretation of the beloved Disney character Mickey Mouse. The art of these artists is displayed on the OG Sk8-Hi, a T-shirt and a skateboard.
John Van Hamersveld is a well-known illustrator and graphic designer. He is best known for his influential images and images that are characteristic of the culture of Southern California. He is a pioneer in the world of art, music, and surfing and knows how to bring these worlds together perfectly in his extensive repertoire with psychedelic patterns and lively colors.
Mr. Cartoon, the legendary tattoo artist Mark Machado, better known as Mr. Cartoon, is an artist of Mexican-American descent. He grew up in Los Angeles, California. Cartoon is especially popular thanks to its very detailed style with fine lines. For that technique, diluted black ink is used to create shadows and depth. His work is particularly striking because of the technical sophistication and striking details of his work, which often appears to be three-dimensional.
Geoff McFetridge is a Canadian designer, illustrator and animator who now lives in Los Angeles. McFetridge is known for its distinctive minimalist and surrealistic illustration style. He ignores the usual creative boundaries and focuses on all kinds of art. The versatility and simplicity in his work is balanced by the use of elegant line drawings and paintings.
Taka Hayashi remains the man behind Vault. His dedication to detailed craftsmanship and unique design remains a synonym of the designer’s aesthetic approach.
