Recently the Dutch producer and DJ Jarreau Vandal, aka Ellroy Uyleman, released the mixtape ‘Anthology’. Within the music scene, Jarreau Vandal is known for his hyped up DJ sets and Vandalized Edits, but on this debut he shows how versatile he is as an artist. A mature sound is heard in 13 tracks; an eclectic mix of soul, R & B, reggae, hip hop and latin music. For the Red Bull Music Uncut series he shows his new music for the first time live, combining the tracks ‘Scintilla’ and ‘Westside’ smoothly. He plays the tracks together with the band he also goes on tour with, amongst others, the talented Luna Mae is on the vocals.
“The inspiration for this session came from my two singles, I wanted to combine these songs into a live version and see how different I could make them without making them unrecognizable.” With this project I show a mature side of myself and introduce myself a new chapter in my career. The songs ‘Scintilla’ and ‘Westside’ are a good example of that more mature side. ” – Jarreau Vandal
On November 2nd he starts his international tour in the Ekko. After this he is on the stage in Berlin, Paris and London. On November 10 he closes the live tour in a sold-out Melkweg.
“There are very few people who have seen me live, so this is pretty new, in this video I play the drum pad, keys and I sing the backing vocals, I see this happen more often in the near future. Enjoy the different versions we’ve played live and realize that I’m not just a DJ, but a complete artist. ” -Jarreau Vandal
In the series ‘Red Bull Music – Uncut’ artists work on a special live version of a song, which they then record in one take. It’s a process that reveals new things in a song and the way artists approach the song. “It was a good challenge to do all this in one take, and it has been a good exercise for the live tour I will do in November.” After artists like Mar, Jaël & Wantigga, Pete Philly, Studio KOTO, Mr. Probz, Full Crate and Yung Nnelg is Jarreau Vandal the latest in the list of Uncut sessions. “I think it’s fun to be part of this series, and now I’m going to concentrate on my tour and soon I’ll go back into the studio, but I feel like I have to live a little bit to get inspired. And of course I work on my annual dj-edit “VANDALIZED EDITS VOL.4, so be on your look-out!”
