In the 90s, the running technology in the sneaker business developed rapidly. PUMA introduced the CELL technology in ’98; a revolution in resilience and fit. Now, 20 years later, the iconic PUMA CELL is the basis of a special re-issue. Where the sneaker used to be an innovative running shoe, the PUMA CELL is now the latest fashionable eyecatcher on the street.
PUMA CELL Endura OG
Fashion always comes back around and that is certainly true for the style of the nineties. The PUMA CELL OG revives this decade and remains close to the original design. The model consists of a robust silhouette designed from the CELL technology with details such as the unique lace construction and a chunky sole continuous to just over the nose. The CELL was sewn by hand at the time, the latest production goes with the times and is produced by means of a digital sewing technique. The materials have also been updated: the sneaker has a slimmer nose, an upper made of breathable mesh with suede details and PU-coated leather overlays.
PUMA CELL Venom OG
In addition to the CELL Endura, PUMA has a re-issue of the CELL Venom, another important running model from the ’90s. The CELL Venom range will be extended in 2019 with a wide choice of new colorways. Expect collabs in the coming months, including BAIT, Overkill and Ferrari.
CELL Technology from the 90s is still top of the bill. It is characterized by the pattern of hexagonal cells of polyurethane elastomer in the sole. This innovation provides ultimate cushioning and stability, allowing the cells to be flexibly assembled for custom-made cushioning. Originally designed for runners, the PUMA CELL is now – on the eve of its 20th anniversary – moving from the running track to the streets and the runway.
The PUMA CELL is available in PUMA stores worldwide and online in different colorways. The sneakers retail for €120,-
