The Amsterdam based documentary photographer Rein Kooyman will present his second solo exhibition dubbed RESTRUCTURE.
Kooyman, who has become known to the general public through his portrait photography and collaborations with artists such as DJ Hardwell, shows a more introspective side of his work (process) with RESTRUCTURE. The exhibition, which can be visited for free at Indebt Studio in Amsterdam East, is entirely dedicated to the inspiration that the photographer finds in nature. For this, the photographer traveled to five different countries: Iceland, Portugal (The Azores), Scotland, France and Norway. Kooyman has gathered elements from the nature of the locations where the images were shot. These may be touched so that the visitor ‘literally’ comes into contact with nature.
“I like going back to nature to set new creative goals. The idea for the show was born from the need for silence and serenity that I find in nature, ” – Kooyman.
The images were made in the rural environment of five different countries. Because the material has been gathered from the landscape where the image was shot, a more than two-dimensional image is created. Organic structures, texture, color and calm play a central role in the exhibition. As a result, Rein Kooyman creates a tangible experience that allows you to escape the fleeting existence of everyday city life and immerse the visitor in the tranquility of nature.
The exhibition can be visited for free from February 21st until the 28th at Indebt Studio in Amsterdam from 10:00-17:00.
